Independent Truck Co. is responsible for revolutionizing skateboarding with the introduction of its line of premium trucks in 1978. Original team rider Rick Blackhart has stated that the motivation for launching Independent was the lack of quality skateboard trucks available at the time. Needless to say, Independent was able to fill that void pretty quickly. The team of riders for Independent Truck Co. is illustrative of just how respected the brand is: long-term riders include Andrew Reynolds, Eric Koston, Chris Haslam, and Geoff Rowley. In addition, skateboarding icons Tony Hawk and Christian Hosoi have also worked with Independent.
